Notion AI is not competing on model quality and does not need to. Its advantage is that the context problem — getting the assistant to know how your company actually works — is already solved by the fact that your handbook, specs and meeting notes are in the same product.
Connected search is the feature that justifies the line item. Asking what the current deployment process is and getting an answer assembled from three internal pages with links attached beats searching manually, and it beats asking a general assistant that has never seen those pages.
The dependency is uncomfortable but real: the tool inherits your documentation quality. Workspaces full of abandoned drafts and contradictory pages produce answers that are confidently wrong, and users lose trust quickly. Clean up the corpus before rolling it out, not after the first bad answer reaches a customer.
